Therapeutic Riding Lessons

Under the guidance of a PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor horse lovers of all ages, levels and disciplines work with the horse to achieve success. Therapeutic Riding is lessons for people with special needs with the goal of teaching riding skills and using the natural therapeutic benefits of activities with horses to build life skills and foster personal growth and development.  Therapeutic Riding Lessons incorporate activities with horses to help build physical, cognitive, educational, sensorial, social, emotional and behavioral skills.

We will meet you exactly where you are and gently guide you through the exciting process of gaining ground while simply horsin' around!

Activities may include:

Safety & proper horse handling                  Ground work

How to halter and lead a horse                   Basic riding skills (walk, trot)

Basic grooming and bathing                        Navigate obstacles & the trail

The safety of the students is paramount at HOPE. Our enrollment process is thorough. We make every effort to accept students into our program as quickly as possible. We offer 4 sessions per year including one during Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.  Sessions are 1 hour per week for 8 weeks.

Application: Complete and submit an application.  The link is at the bottom of this page!

New Participant Evaluation: Once the forms have been reviewed you will be contacted to schedule a  participant evaluation. Session objectives and goals will be discussed and an Individual Development Plan (IDP) will be created. The facilitator will make a recommendation for program placement according to the participant's goals, abilities, and age.

Placement:  The participant will be placed in a class that is appropriate for their goals and needs.  We assign participants to classes and activities that help them most!

Enrollment: The participant will then be enrolled for the next available agreed upon term. Additional information will be discussed during enrollment.

Ride, Learn, Grow! The participant will attend a weekly or biweekly session for 8 weeks for each term of enrollment. Sessions are usually the same day and time each week unless otherwise stated for a specific program.

HOPE Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc has taken great care in setting modest and affordable participant fees for our services.  It is our desire that no family is unable to participate due to financial circumstances. Thanks to community support, HOPE is able to provide program scholarships based on community service and financial need. Scholarships are full or partial providing program fee assistance. Veterans, First Responders and Kids in Care automatically qualify for FULL SCHOLARSHIP for one program per year! Donations are welcome! This year we are able to offer a partial scholarship to all families who wish to participate if requested. The partial scholarship will cover half of the regular program expenses. We are able to keep our fees affordable through fundraising each year, our volunteers and sponsors!
