Kick off the New Year in the saddle!  Challenges are meant to be fun and creative while encouraging participants to ride more and build a deeper connection with their horse and others!  These challenges inspire the adventurer in you! Over nine weeks you will document your journey by taking pictures and post your submission to be entered for prizes! Sign up now to get started on your challenge now!

FEE: $25 donation

OFFICIAL START: Friday, January 5, 2026

OFFICIAL CLOSE: Monday, March 9, 2026, at 9:00pm CTS

PRIZE PARTY: Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 7:00pm CST we will have a Zoom party & award prizes!  Everyone is invited to the party, even if you don’t finish the challenge.  You will receive an email with the zoom link 24 hours before the Prize Party.

Virtual Winter Scavenger Hunt Rules: 

• Start the Winter Challenge at any time while the challenge is active.  Start early to get a kick start on your submission!

• You will be provided a list of 20 challenge items after registering. Select 10 out of the 20 items on the list to complete. Take photos with you and your horse completing the selected challenges.  You may lead or ride your horse.  Photos can be taken selfie style or someone else can take the photo.  

• The photo must have you and your horse featured in it. 

  • You do not have to own the horse.  

  • You may use multiple horses throughout the challenge.  

  • You may not use photos of someone else completing the challenge or a screenshot/photo from the internet.

• Photos must be taken between 01/09/2026-03/09/2026

• You may work on this individually, with friends, family or a team.  Each person needs to submit their own entry.  Each person’s photo must be different. No group shot in submission. However, group shot photos are always encouraged as an extra post!

Everyone who completes the challenge gets a medal and a patch in the mail (please allow up to 4 weeks) and will be entered for the Winter Trail Challenge prizes. Participation points will also accumulate for our Challenge Participation Point Prize and  year end prizes awarded at the annual Fall Farm Party in October (2026 date TBA). You do not have to be present to win.

Ride for a Reason:

All proceeds from your $25 tax deductible challenge donation go to HOPE Therapeutic Riding Center Inc program scholarships.  HOPE is a 501C3 nonprofit with a mission to positively impact the life course of people by connecting horses and humans. We strive to enrich the soul and improve lives by fostering hope and healing relationships through therapeutic, educational and recreational activities with horses. HOPE offers equine assisted mentoring and coaching services to youth and adults.  All participants receive a scholarship that may range from covering 50% to 100% of their session fee.
